 WELCOME TO DAISY

from  Peter and Ann Jones

Our holiday home in Crete is one of four houses and 4 apartments in an elevated position on a small development called Mandarin Grove, in the heart of an unspoilt village in Crete.  It is a 3 storey property that includes a roof terrace with panoramic views of the mountains beyond . It has two double bedrooms and two shower rooms. There is hot and cool air conditioning throughout the property. It sleeps 4 in comfort but it can sleep 6 providing the sofa beds are used. Daisy was built in 2005 and so it is a modern property and the plumbing works !

Our Cretan home is surrounded by orange groves ; the beautiful village Byzantine church and a wooded park. The mountains lie beyond to complete an idyllic rural setting.  It is an ideal location for relaxation in private surroundings.

The photographs above and below  show that Mandarin Grove is a traffic -free area , yet it is only 200 metres from the centre of the village making the shops and tavernas close at hand. It is 100 metres from the village square where you will park your car.  The swimming pool and jacuzzi are in beautiful  setting for visitors to chill out. Should you wish to visit the beach , it is less than 3kmaway along a nice country lane.

Our holiday home in Crete is  managed by our service managers,  Helen and Ken Goodhead. They are an English couple who actually live next door to Daisy. Helen and Ken are very much part of the village and they own a shop there which we have used considerably for our furnishings in Daisy. They are wonderful hosts to our guests and very obliging when you need to ask them for advice and support. The service managers will ensure that Daisy is ready for you and your holiday can start very soon after your arrival.

We consider that a hire car is not essentiaI.  If you are seeking a chillout holiday, Mandarin Grove and the village will provide the right environment for you. The service manager can provide a door to door taxi service  from the airport or you can simply get a taxi. They will also take you to nearby Fodele Beach for 3 Euros. You can have all your meals courtesy of the nearby bakery and Tavernas or the Service Managers can prepare a meal /barbeque for you. The Tavernas will also do a "take away" for those of you who have very young children and need to stay on site in the evening.

If, however, you are taking grown up "children" they can just as easily pursue an active holiday  using the busy resorts nearby or visiting Heraklion which is only 20 minutes away. It is also possible to rent another house or apartment if your family/friends would prefer separate accommodation.

We must point out that Daisy is a non-smoking house but we do provide many pleasant outside areas for you to take a quiet smoke.

The photograph  above was taken at the entrance to Mandarin Grove and it shows the wooded park. There is a ramp at the entrance so there is wheel chair access. However the ramp is quite steep and the wheel chair user would need additional help.  I hope this does not offend if I say that the wheel chair user should be in robust health to benefit from this holiday.

Finally, may we point out that Crete has a special charm at all times of the year. We offer very low winter rates for both short and long term lets to enable you to spend time in Crete at a low personal cost.

Please note that we have left a copy of the "Rough guide to Crete" in the bookcase to save you the expense of buying a comprehensive guide.
