Daisy is one of four houses and 4 apartments on a small development called Mandarin Grove. It is in an elevated position in the heart of Fodele, an unspoilt village much treasured by the Cretan people for its unspoilt location ; the wonderful Tavernas and as the birthplace of El Greco. Fodele lies in "Orange valley" and it is surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery.

It is very centrally placed on the north coast of Crete, 3km from the main highway linking Western and Eastern Crete. At the same time Daisy is close to Fodele Beach, a beautiful sandy cove with a watersports centre.
Daisy is a 3 storey property that includes a roof terrace with panoramic views of the mountains beyond . It has two double bedrooms and two shower rooms. The front bedroom has a double bed and the back bedroom 2 single beds. There are also 2 sofa beds in the lounge, to give you maximum flexibility for your sleeping arrangements.
There is hot and cool air conditioning throughout the property.There are also ceiling fans in the bedroom and the patio doors can be tilted for cooler air to come in. Daisy was built in 2005 and so it is a modern property and the plumbing works !
Mandarin Grove is surrounded by orange groves ; the beautiful Byzantine village church and a wooded park. The park is enhanced by the small river that flows through it all the year round and is home to a resident swan population. Mountains lie beyond to complete an idyllic rural setting. The photographs on this page show that Mandarin Grove is a traffic-free area, yet it is only 100 metres from the centre of the village, making the shops and tavernas close at hand. It is 60 metres from the village square where you can safely park your car. The swimming pool and jacuzzi are in beautiful setting for visitors to chill out. Should you wish to visit the picturesque Fodele beach , it is less than 3km. away along a pleasant country lane.

An important consideration is that your pound will go further in the village. The prices in the local tavernas are considerably lower than what you find in the resorts. Please remember that there are no cash machines in the area so you need to take Euros with you.
We consider that a hire car is not essential if you are seeking a peaceful, inexpensive, chillout holiday. Mandarin Grove and the village will provide the right environment for you. You can hire a car from Fodele itself, but it may be a little more expensive than hiring a car at the airport. There is a public bus service to Heraklion but you would need to walk nearly 2 miles (downhill !) to the main road to catch the bus.

You can have all your meals courtesy of the nearby bakery and Tavernas. You can even arrange a "Takeaway" from one of the Tavernas if you have very young children and need to stay on site in the evening. (we have a cot , shared between 4 owners, available too) Sometimes the guests choose to stay on site and use the communal barbeque. They enjoy visiting the shops for their daily feast.
If, however, you wish to explore this lovely island then Fodele is an ideal location, being right in the centre of the north coast and 3km from the main highway linking western and eastern Crete. There are also busy resorts like Agia Pelagia close by and it is only a 20 minute journey to Heraklion. One of our favourite resorts is Bali shown below
If you wish to take other members of your family or friends, it is very easy to rent another house or apartment in Mandarin Grove. We can put you directly in touch with the owners.
We must point out that Daisy is a non-smoking house but we do provide many pleasant outside areas for you to take a quiet smoke.
The park next door provides a safe play area for young children
We want to offer holidays to special people who will appreciate that Daisy is a cherished home rather than a holiday let. You are invited to see local culture ; mix with local people ; eat in local restaurants and have an authentic holiday experience without English food ; cash machines and MP's expenses.
